Amanda Truax grew up in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School. Amanda took her very first lesson at the Hastings Arena. Amanda trained at the St. Paul Figure Skating Club & The Maplewood Figure Skating club for many years growing up. She has won numerous competitions around the United States in Figure Skating & Dance. Amanda holds a degree in Business & Dance from the University Wisconsin-Riverfalls. Along with teaching competitive Figure Skating Amanda taught dance at Jan’s School of Dance for many years.
Amanda was a member of the NHL’s Minnesota North Stars Dance Team - The Electric Stars. After college Amanda landed a job with Disney on Ice after years of competing as a singles skater. She toured with Disney on Ice for 8 years and developed herself as a well known Figure Skating Choreographer within Disney on Ice. Amanda is a National speaker, and has worked on projects with Stars on Ice, US Figure Skating, & the Ice Sports Industry. Amanda is also a Hockey Power Skating Coach in Minnesota. Amanda is thrilled to own and direct her own skating school-River Blades at the rink where she took her first steps in her hometown building self esteem and confidence for life. She enjoys passing her love of Ice Skating on to the youth of Hastings.
20+ years perfecting the art of edges, jumps, spins & choreography. Amanda performed & travelled the World with Disney on Ice, was the Disney on Ice Edge Class, Ballet Instructor, and cast Line Captain during her career with Disney on Ice. She has also worked closely with World & Olympic Coaches, and recently worked on a project for US Figure Skating and Stars on Ice. She is also a choreographer and style instructor for many competitive figure skaters in the Twin Cities teaching Ballet, artistic movement, and developing skaters signature style on the ice.
Amanda is one of the Twin Cities leading power skating & edge class instructors for many of the areas hockey players. She breaks down the skills in order for your skater to learn the correct technique which will increase their speed & quickness. She has a passion for teaching hockey players efficient technique.
