Note: Hockey Power Skating- class is for skaters that have already learned the basic fundamentals of skating. In order to enroll in this class your skater must have played 1 year of organized hockey or passed Advanced Mini-Mites. Must be able to perform the basic stride, forward and backward skating, and stops.

has 20+ years perfecting the art of edges, jumps, spins & choreography. Amanda performed & travelled the World with Disney on Ice, was the Disney on Ice Edge Class, Ballet Instructor, and cast Line Captain during her career with Disney on Ice. She has also worked closely with World & Olympic Coaches, and recently worked on a project for US Figure Skating and Stars on Ice. She is also a choreographer and style instructor for many competitive figure skaters in the Twin Cities teaching Ballet, artistic movement, and developing skaters signature style on the ice.
Amanda is one of the Twin Cities leading power skating & edge class instructors for many of the areas hockey players. She breaks down the skills in order for your skater to learn the correct technique which will increase their speed & quickness. She has a passion for teaching hockey players efficient technique.
Amanda is the founder and director of the River Blades Skating School housed at the Hastings Civic Arena. Amanda and her staff of trained instructors have been offering unique youth skating skills classes that build self esteem and confidence for life since 2005.

Beginner skaters ages 3-7; who have never skated before.

LTS #1 Beginner skaters age 3-5 will learn how to skate using interactive play games and sing songs as they develop skills needed to balance and move across the ice. Beginner skaters ages 5 + will learn the skills by watching skills demonstrated, explained by the instructor, then practicing these skills during class. Skaters will learn the proper way to fall and get up, hopping and how to make A's and V's, swizzles, beginner forward skating & more

Prerequisite for Beginner Mini-Mite must have passed Learn to Skate 1 or can skate unassisted
Beginning Mini-Mite Hockey Skating Skills Class – Ages 4+ and helmets required – no sticks or pucks. Basic skills on ice without a stick – falling, marching, gliding, standing up, 1-foot standing balance, beginner swizzles, moving, beginning backward skating, 2-foot glides around cone and snowplow stops.
Intermediate Mini-Mites Hockey Skating Skills Class – Ages 4+ - Building on skills from Beginner Mini-Mites. Learn forward swizzles, forward 1-foot glides, backward swizzles, hockey turns, intro to 1-foot glides around a cone, beginner stride, walking crossovers, beginning slaloms.
Advanced Mini-Mites Hockey Skating Skills Class – Ages 4+ Review of skills previously presented, advanced stride, beginning crossovers on a circle, backward slaloms, backward 1-foot glides, hockey stops, intro to 3-turns and mohawks.

Must be able to skate forward and have either passed Adv. Mini-Mites or one season of organized hockey. Beginner, Intermediate and advanced levels available.
The Power Skating portion of the class will focus on endurance & speed exercises, which will improve leg strength, quickness, flexibility, core strength, balance and skating technique. The edge class portion of the class will break down skating skills & focus on correct technique.
The edge class portion will focus on proper form, correct technique for the stride, forward and backward crossovers, 3-turns, mohawks, stops and more!! Skaters will rotate through stations, each station will focus on a different skating skill. No sticks or pucks just skating. Helmets are a must.

Student will learn jumping & spinning techniques. For skaters that want to learn basic-advanced jump & spin techniques. LTS 4 -Freestyle 8. Skaters will be grouped with skaters of similar jump & spin level. This class is not evaluated-your private lesson instructor will need to prepare a freestyle routine with the required elements and then test the program with the music you select.
