Mini-Mite-Learn to Skate-is designed to break down the basic skating skills crucial to the success of your Hockey player. Basic skills and technical positions are presented which create a solid foundation for your skater. Balance and edge control is an important skill that River Blades develops for long term efficiency speed and power.
Explosive Power Skating & Edge Class- This class is designed to increase your skaters edge control, power, endurance, quickness & break away speed. Fall & Winter Session hours 11:00-11:30 am the skaters will visit our edge class & explosive power skating stations. At each station the instructors will focus on edge control, and the skills will be broken down into simple, effective techniques. Once the techniques are understood the skill will be performed at a faster speed in our Explosive power skating stations. The exercises presented will increase blade & ankle pressure producing maximum efficiency, power & speed. An example of skills covered: Stride, Crossovers, Quick Starts & Stops, Power Pulls, Three Turns, Power Turns, Mohawks, Brackets and much more!

Ages 4+ - Review of skills previously presented, advanced stride, beginning crossovers on a circle, backward slolams, backward 1-foot glides, hockey stops, intro to 3-turns and mohawks.
Ages 4 + Review of skills previously presented, backward crossovers, backward hockey turns, mohawks, inside and outside edges, technique for stopping, quickness, backward slolams, inside and outside 3-turns.

Power Skating
This class focuses on endurance & speed exercises, which will improve leg strength, quickness, flexibility, core strength, balance and skating technique.The edge class portion of the class will break down skating skills & focus on correct technique. Must be able to skate forward and have either passed Adv. Mini-Mites or one Winter season of organized hockey.
The Edge
This class portion focuses on proper form, correct technique for the stride, forward and backward crossovers, 3-turns, mohawks and more!! Skaters will rotate through stations, each station will focus on a different skating skill. No sticks or pucks just skating. Helmets are a must.
